Sustainability Practices

Live Greener in Your Bedroom.

Most of the time we spend at home is in our bedrooms. Ultimately, it’s where we head to relax and for a good night’s sleep. To make your comfort zone more eco-friendly, practice the following steps.

  1. For saving energy and reducing your carbon footprint, pay attention to your devices.

You must be having at least one electronic device in your bedroom, or even more. Did you know that even after turning off your TV, it still uses electricity? Put all your major electronics on power strips and turn them off when they are not in use. Don’t forget to shut down your laptop when you’re done with it and unplug your charger once your phone is fully charged.

  1. Going paperless (whether it’s for statements, paychecks, or bills) does not only reduce clutter but marks a significant difference for the environment too.

If you’re using your bedroom as your home office, take a look around and keep checking for any bills and random paper lying around. Additionally, digital copies are easier to handle and find what you need. If, in any case, it’s necessary to print, then print double-sided for the least amount of paper consumption.

  1. Another important point to consider is to put a stop to buying things you don’t really need.

Ask yourself every now and then, “Is it important?” to help you make the right decision. Take a look at your closet and see all the things you’ve barely used. If there’s a lot, try shifting to a minimalist lifestyle.

Taking a shift towards a minimalistic lifestyle isn’t to halt buying altogether. It means buying less and being more considerate about what you end up spending money on.

  1. Always turn off the lights when they are not needed.

In the daylight, make use of the sunlight at its fullest – open the blinds or split the curtains instead of switching on lights. To move a step ahead, you can replace your bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs for energy output reduction by 85%. They cost as low as $5 and can save above $100 over its lifetime.
